Healing after injury involves a well-orchestrated and complex series of events where proteins act as messengers to regulate the entire process. Many proteins involved in healing process are obtained from small pieces in the blood called platelets.

Platelets are small colorless cell fragments present in blood, they are formed in the bone marrow and travel freely through the bloodstream in a resting state. However, when an injury occurs, platelets become activated and begin to gather at the site of the injury to release beneficial proteins called growth factors. This is beginning of healing process.

For many years, blood components derived from patient, then delivered to site of injury, have created interest for their use in orthopedic procedures. Thanks to new research and technologies, it has been possible to expand the use of this therapy in orthopedic procedures.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP is a concentration of platelets and growth factors created from a small amount of the patient's own blood. Increased growth factors have the potential to enhance cell signaling and recruitment. This concentrated portion of the blood is often referred to as PRP.

How does the PRP process work?

Your doctor will take a small sample of your blood, this sample then goes through a centrifugation process that separates and concentrates platelets and other beneficial growth factors from the blood. The PRP production process is usually done in 30 minutes.

Double Syringe System
Autologous Conditioned Plasma

The Dual Syringe System (ACP) is used to facilitate the rapid and safe preparation of autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) from a small blood sample at the patient's point of care. PRP may be mixed with autograft and allograft bone prior to application to an orthopedic surgical site as deemed necessary by clinical use requirements. In addition, it can be used after surgery to stimulate the healing of the repaired tissue.
