On Wednesday April 22, 1997 I received a call from my brother Gerardo living in Puerto Rico. He asked if he could go two months to teach your restaurant chefs prepare different types of chutneys, and green salsa, pasilla sauce, bell, tree sauce, peanut sauce, salsa Mexican, etc. Puerto Rico reaches a Friday May 15 of that year. This was a big challenge because in Mexico my work was very different, Chef did it for hobby and during the day he worked as a supplier of restaurants. My company was going through a bad time and decided to take the opportunity to go to another country to experience all learned as Chef. I was laboring for eight years as Chef and Restaurant Manager Frida's in Hato Rey. I was able to prepare different hot sauces and dishes to vary the already established menu. The menu changes were a success and emerged several times in different TV shows and this response was immediate. My relationship with customers is at the level of good friends and eventually I realized that Mexican dishes like Puerto Ricans. My clients were accustomed to pique and extravagant dishes served and so the idea of Taste of Mexico. I decided to take my services were already asking me if I could offer my services outside the restaurant for activities such as conferences, birthdays, weddings etc. Since most local services are Creole food or picadera not Mexican food. With the help of Mr. Ricardo Rengel, Mr. Souto and Leonelse started creating the concept of Sabor de Mexico and it is now a reality. Sabor de Mexico customers can enjoy the best of Mexican local cuisine.
